Trevor Watkins

· The England 2018 World Cup bid, in particular advising venues, cities and teams, regarding the demands placed by
FIFA, compliance, commercial rights and the delivery and operation of venues
· Leading the Football League negotiations with the European Commission over the effect of the Bosman ruling and then
recommending and introducing changes to the English football system
· At the request of DCMS, developing the concept for, creating and then becoming a Founder Director of Supporters Direct
· Pioneering the structures used to exploit technologies in the sale of commercial rights on a global basis
· Construction, operation and management of facilities including the City of Bristol 2018 World Cup stadium, Silverstone
Circuit, Edgbaston (Warwickshire CCC), Gloucester RFC, London Wasps RFC, Rose Bowl (Hampshire CCC), the
Jockey Club
· Creating the platform and strategy for a number of multi-use venues with differing sports and entertainment tenants
including a recent instruction to advise on a new multi-sport concept being introduced in London and the Middle East
incorporating diverse activities and likely high level usage with supporting commercial rights schemes to generate
additional revenues
· The appointment of agencies and/or operators to realise commercial value through naming rights, catering contracts,
outsourcing agreements, premium seat sales, debentures, securitisation, tiered sponsorship programmes including
contracts with major providers including AEG, WMG and ISG
· Advice on the structuring of commercial rights at tournaments including the ICC World Cup, 20:20 Championship, FIFA
World Cup and Rugby World Cup
· Large scale event management advice across a wide range of projects including the Epsom Derby Festival, Grand
National meeting at Aintree, F1 GP at Silverstone, World Powerboat Championship, music festivals and stadium events
· The tax efficient structuring of rights and event revenue streams including development of solutions to the ongoing
interest of HMRC in sporting events and personalities
· Creating and securing funding streams that have delivered substantial nine figure sums into sports projects and
entities, including the creation of new innovative structures enabling clients to realise their objectives
· Leading advisory role on complex development projects that have been the subject of judicial review challenges and
other attempts to prevent development including village green applications, state aid challenges and breach of powers
exercised
